Repairing Connections for Individuals: The Puzzle
Setting out to complete a jigsaw puzzle can be a daunting task, at least initially, and it can seem even more complicated if we don’t have a reference picture to begin with or an illustration to guide us. Some of the inherent questions that prevent us from beginning the puzzle are: Where do I start? Do I have enough time? Are all the pieces here? Do I have the necessary skills? Soon thereafter we discover that we simply must start somewhere. Most often, folks start with the four corners, next they may create a border, then there is a process of sorting, some may do this by color or a theme recognized within the frame of each piece. This may vary by person, but most often the pieces are arranged and organized to make the process of building simpler. Once this is completed, the process of construction can begin, but yet and still, it is only accomplished piece by piece.
One of our greatest challenges while completing the puzzle is to not consider the pace that others have arrived at completion. Yes, it’s true that some may be able to complete the puzzle in a day while it may take us a week, but when we engage in this comparison, it may rob us of the fun of discovery or ultimately cause us to quit because we don’t measure up. Surely, it’s okay or even encouraged to consider another’s process, assess their strategy, or borrow their technique, however, it’s never okay to devalue our unique puzzle making process.

Individual Therapy
(Ages 15 & Up)
Life is very much like the puzzle process mentioned above except we, with the help of the Creator, build the puzzle with our life experiences, innate drives, and given or developed challenges. When we consider solving the puzzle or resolving life’s obstacles, it’s important to organize and strategically (also patiently) take steps to build the puzzle or complete life in a satisfactory way. Regrettably, the human experience presents challenges on its way to completion. Besides the similar questions of the puzzle builder, the human experience interrupts with psychological afflictions that interject and complicate things.
Whether you experience depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, anger, or other mental health related struggles, we desire to partner with you alongside your journey. We do this utilizing evidence-based and clinical best practices primarily from the framework of attachment-based and cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) both of which have great scientific research that supports their effectiveness. Depending on your presenting need, we develop a treatment plan and goals tailored to fit you. We then work towards accomplishing those specific goals, as well as other challenges as they arise, until treatment completion. Our goal is not to keep you in treatment in perpetuity, but rather to assist you with integrating life experiences, supporting growth, developing coping skills, discovering new parts of self, evaluating and building relationships, and improving life satisfaction.
You can expect that we will consider the whole person in the context of treatment, meaning that we want to know the various aspects of your life to throroughly explore and process their relevant importance. This means we will look at your presenting needs, as well as, explore emotional, physical, biological, social, and spiritual influences. This is important in order to join with you and guide as necessary. We like to do this in a gentle, but honest and non-judgemental way so that you can present your authentic self, and feel supported in reaching your goals.
